Dynamic Shotokan Karate-Do International
Website
Dynamic Shotokan Karate-Do International (DSKI) was established in 2007 by Ali Darwish (Roku dan), direct student of sensei Hiroshi Nakayama of the Japan Karate Association, and former member of Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation (SKIF) and World Shotokan Karate-Do Federation (WSKF), and technical adviser of World Shotokan Karate-Do Australia (WSKA).
DSKI Philosophy
The philosophy of Dynamic Shotokan Karate-Do International is based on the interdependent principles of contrast taisho and energy transfer naihatsu of Shotokan Karate-Do. "No efficient energy transfer can take place without effective contrast in Karate techniques" (Darwish, 1994). Consequently, the study and application of these principles of Dynamic Yakushin Shotokan are the foundation of DSKI training philosophy, which is also built on the concepts of hente, where the same hand dynamically changes from defence to offence and vice-versa, and renketsusei, which refers to connectivity of techniques.
DSKI Objectives
DSKI objectives are:
- To continue the Shotokan Karate-Do tradition
- To learn Karate as a self-defence system
- To understand and further develop the principles of contrast and energy transfer
- To learn the health and healing aspects of Karate
- To enjoy Karate as a sport
- To uphold the principles of Karate-Do
We welcome Karate-ka who share these objectives and values.
